We have broken the linking structure down into three parts:

Page depth

Amount of Internal Links

Quality of Internal Links

Page Depth
Page depth refers to the quantity of required clicks to get to some page from the homepage. Pages that are available in one click are more important than those that are almost hidden and require more than 3 clicks to reach.

If you have a lot of worthless pages and few important product pages, you could take this chance to restructure your site.

Quantity of Internal Links
This point is simple; the more internal links you have to a certain page, the more important search engines think that web page to be. A page that ranks well on almost every website is the homepage. This kind of time will continue to be true for many years because almost every webmaster programs their site so that every web page has a link back again to the homepage.

Therefore how do make your other pages benefit from this? Does that imply you should have every page on your site include a link to every single page in your site? No, you'll be observed as a spammer if your site has several number of paragraphs and then hundreds of links to every other webpage on your site.

An improved method would to have a "Top Products" section that includes a hyperlink to pages you want to get or obtain the most link love. Another strategy is to possess a link for every main areas of your site. This will help to give those areas a lot of link love, and in turn, they'll be able to drive more link the pages contained within them.

Quality of Internal Links
Just including a bunch of internal links to an important web page is not enough; they also need to be high quality links. For your most significant pages, make sure the links they receive have as many of the following qualifying criterion or requirements as possible:

Anchor Text - If you're targeting a certain keyword (or keywords) ensure that the internal links have the keyword in the anchor text. Also, added bonus for using a little bit altered anchor text of our own site.

Link Position - The higher a link occurs in the HTML, the better. If you link to "mobile" at the top of the webpage, but "phone" towards the bottom of the webpage, search engines will certainly view the link to "mobile" as more valuable than the link to "phone".

Link Zone- The very best scenario for getting more link is to link in one page to a highly-related page. The closer the topics of each are in topic, the higher the amount of links that will be transmitted.

Keyword Proximity
It refers to the location of keywords on a webpage in connection or regards to the other keywords or, in some instances, in relation to different keywords which have a similar meaning as the queried keyword.

For search engines, quality a keyword match simply by keyword proximity, the linked phrase mortgage loans will outrank a citation that says home mortgage loans presuming that you are looking only for the term "home loans".

Keyword Prominence
It is a measure of how early or high up on a page, the keywords are found. To have keywords in the initial heading in addition to the initial paragraph (first 20 words or so) on a page are best.

Keyword Placement
Where your keywords are put or located on a page is essential. For example, in most engines, inserting the keywords in the Title of the web page, or inside the Heading tags will give it more relevancy. On a few engines, inserting keywords inside the link text, the part that is certainly underlined upon the screen within a browser, can add even more relevancy to those words.

Best Places to Place Keywords
Here is a group of places where you should certainly try to use the main keywords.

Keywords in the
tag(s).
Keywords in the .
Keywords found in the .
Keywords in
or other headline tags.
Keywords in the keywords link tags.
Keywords in the body copy.
Keywords in alt tags.
Keywords in <!-- insert comments here> comments tags.
Keywords in the URL or site address.

Finding Keywords
There are various ways to find keywords to your website. A few good keyword ideas are:

The potential words, pople might use to find the service or product.

Keyword tags on competitor's websites.

Visible page duplicate on competitor's websites.

Related search ideas on leading search engines.

Using a web tool such as Google Keyword Research Tool.

Simply by analyzing your web site carefully and finding out proper keywords. This task can be done by expert SEO copywriters.

Pay attention to stemming for your keywords - particularly to what the root word is usually can be and what Google thinks to be a match for that word, while optimizing pages with time.

You can do brainstorming to identify correct keywords intended for your site.

Precisely what is Word Stemming?
Google utilizes a feature called word stemming that allows every kind of the word - singlular, plural, verb form as well as similar words and phrases to be returned intended for a given search query.

So if someone types in "house plans", not only the pages that are optimized for that phrase but the webpages that contain all variants of that phrase will be returned. For example, "house plan", "house planning", "house planner".

Hope you have got some understanding on keywords and you also understand how to identify them and where you can use them.

Consequently you've researched which keywords you want to focus on, but just putting the keywords within your <title> and <h1> tags is certainly not enough. If you end there, you're not heading to have the ability to or manage to cover all the bases or take in as much search traffic as you may. When doing on-page search engine optimization for your selected keywords, there are three points to consider:

Keywords Density - How many time is your keyword described or stated on your site? Whether it's too much, you'll appear like a spammer; if perhaps it's too little, you won't resemble a relevant match and the search engines like google won't consider your website.

Keyword Variation - Changing or Modifying or Transforming versions of your keywords will help you catch hidden search engine traffic.

Similar Keywords - These kinds of are closely related subject to your keywords that will aide the search engines in properly and effectively categorizing your traffic.

Keyword density
Although some SEOs will speak about aiming to get an actual proportion (e. g. the number of times the keyword appears divided by simply the total number of words on the page), it's a little too much work for something which will manage itself so long as you know how to compose and publish well! Use your keyword frequently in your site, although not so much that this makes the page seem weird or a phrase or sentence sound awkward. If you just use the keyword once at the top of the page and then reference the keyword as "it", for the rest of the content, you will likely to definitely be using this not enough.
If you need some numbers, you should employ the keyword at least 3 times on the web page. That is not consist of keyword variations.

Keyword variations
You may have got found several high traffic keywords by using a keyword research tool, but those estimations often group similar keywords, alternate spellings, and plurals into a single term. Valuable traffic is covered when using those tools. This hidden traffic is placed in all of the subtle versions of your keyword that someone may look for.

Plurals - The easiest method to optimize your site is to include the plural version of the keyword at least a couple of times in your page. Nearly every keyword can do this (instead of "pant", try "pants").
Misspellings - Although it might make your site appear a little unprofessional, including a common misspelling of the keywrod is among the easiest ways to get ranking #1 for that specific spelling and get a lot of free traffic. This is usually among the fun things to experiment with once you have improved the rest of the site.
Acronyms - If perhaps your keyword is a great acronym like SEO, create the words completely (Search Engine Optimization) in order that you can target those persons who have no idea of the phrase.

Similar keywords
If you're producing a webpage to target "beautiful bag", consider changing up the adjective "beautiful" to its synonyms, just like "pretty", "attaractive", "nice". You can also use the names of specific words and phrases that connect with "big bags, " like "sling bag" and "black bag". By simply using this tactic, you give yourself a chance to rank for those related and identical keywords, plus you allow the search engines understand more about your site and what it's on the subject of}. The more a search engine is aware of your page, the greatest you're going to become!
Hello guys, i am back with another post.
So after you decide what's going to be your Page Title tag for a particular page, next what we have to do is to put H1 tag in that page.

H1 tag is the title(topic) of any web page, say i am writing a post on keyword, what would i write first off -

What is a Keyword?
Keyword are the words and phrases in your web content that make it possible for people to find your website by search engines.

So in the above example, i would put "What is a Keyword?" in H1 tag because this is the topic of my website's homepage or any other page.

See the below snapshot as an example:

Topics of a page are often set with header tags
though
, while important items are put in bold to make sure that the user noticed them.
tag is the most important tag for any page of your website.

Header tags -
through
:-

Use
for top-level heading.
However, you do not need to use all six elements to structure your pages.
For example:

What is SEO

Here is some text

Two types of SEO

Here is some text

On-Page

Here is some text

Off-Page

Here is some text

On-Page Features

Here is some text

Off-Page Features

Here is some text

A page that consists entirely of header tags looks pretty Spam to search engines, and it isn't very useful to your visitors.

bold, italic, and emphasis
When you are mentioning your keywords throughout the page, it's recommended to put them into italics, bold, or emphasis () to make sure the search engines know that these words are important.

Google Will sometimes Use H1,H2,H3,H4,H5 & H6 As Titles(Title tag) For Page Snippet.

How you write your header, or h1 tag, is going to be similar to how you wrote your title tag. Sometimes these can be the same, and that’s OK.

Put your header tag

at the top of the page, preferably after the
tag.

In short, H1 is for Page topic, H2 is for H1 sub topic, H3 for H2 sub topic and so on.

I hope you have an idea now of what are headings and how to use them. Will see you soon with another post.

Bbye

Hi guys, i am back with another post and in this post we will discuss on Title Tag.

Title tags define the title of a document. It tells the search engine what a particular page is all about. Title tags are often used on search engine results pages (SERPs) to display preview snippets for a particular page.
Title tags are considered one of the most important on-page SEO elements (the most important being overall content).

Below is the recommended format of how a title tag should be-

Optimal Format
Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword | Brand Name

Title Tag Length for Search Engines
Google typically displays the first 50-60 characters of a title tag of any particular page, or as many characters as will fit into a 512-pixel display.
If your titles are under 55 characters, then chances are that at least 95% of your titles can display properly.

Title Tag appears in three key places: browsers, search engine results pages, and external websites.

1. Browsers
Below is the image, in which you can see the title page of a particular web page of my site. It will help users what this page is all about.

2. Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs)
In the below image you can clearly understand what is a title tag. So when you are searching something on internet, how do you decide that i should click on this link, it looks exactly what i was looking for? Well, by seeing those title tags.

When you use keywords in your title tag, search engine highlights them in the search results if a user has performed a query including those keywords.

3. External Websites
Many external websites—especially social media sites—will use the title tag of a web page as its link anchor text(linkable text).

REMEMBER: A title tag is the most important tag in your page. It tells the search engines what a particular page is about.

How to Optimize Your Titles, A Quick checklist
Below are some recommendations for optimizing title tags for search engine goals:

Length
Search engines truncates the titles in search results that exceed a certain length, If a title is too long, search engines will show an ellipsis, "..." to indicate that a title tag has been cut off, so a title tag length should be usually between 50-60 characters or maximum of 70 characters long, including spaces, or 512 pixels wide.

Keywords in Title Tag
It is good if you place important keywords to the front of the title tag. Your most important keywords need to be first in your title tag, with your least important keywords being last in the title tag.

Keyword Separation: Use pipes (|) to separate important keywords.

Branding
If a brand is well-known to make a difference in click-through rates[CTR, will discuss in upcoming posts] in search results, the brand name should be first. If the brand is less known, the keyword should be first.

Title Tags must be written differently for every page.

The title element or title tag of a web page is meant to be an accurate and concise description of a page's content. This element is critical to both user experience and search engine optimization.

Please Keep in mind that search engines may choose to display a different title than what you have written in your page. Titles in search results may be rewritten to match your brand, the user query, or other considerations.

Below is the Tool that you can use to see how your title would appear in search engines.
Title Emulator Tool
http://moz.com/learn/seo/title-tag

That's all friends, of course i will update all of the posts from time to time. I hope you found this post useful. Query or suggestions?? Shoot your comments below.

Hi Guys,
Today we will discuss on how search engine works. So let's get started!

So, how we view web pages and how search engines view web pages are different. Unlike humans, search engines are text-driven. Search engines crawl the Web, looks at a particular site to get an idea what a site is about.

Search engines perform several activities in order to deliver search results – crawling, indexing, processing, calculating relevancy, and retrieving.

Crawling - Crawling means follow a path. In SEO, crawling means following your links and crawling your Website. It is the process of fetching all the web pages linked to a website. This task is performed by a software, called a crawler or a spider (or Googlebot, in case of Google). Google looks or new and updated pages to be indexed.

P.S The number of pages on the Web is huge that it is impossible for a spider to visit a site daily just to see if a new or an updated page has appeared. So sometimes crawlers may not end up visiting your site for a month or two.

Indexing - It is the process of storing all the fetched web pages and keeping them into its database from where it can later be retrieved. So if a user searches something on Google,it identifies the words and expressions that best describe the page and assigns the page to particular keywords.

The site colon search query returns all the pages Google has indexed for the site.
site:http://www.abc.com/

Processing - When a search request comes, the search engine processes it, that is, it compares the search string(keywords or query) in the search request with the indexed pages in the database.

Calculating Relevancy - It is likely that more than one page contains the search string, so the search engine starts calculating the relevancy of each of the pages in its index to the search string.

Retrieving Results - The last step in search engine activities is retrieving the best matched results. Basically, it is nothing more than simply displaying them in the browser.

I hope this post was helpful for you, and i hope you are now aware of how search engine works and how you get search results for a particular search query that you search for and how it returns results for your query.

Will be back with another post soon.
Hello guys, i am back with another post, and it's about Google PR, that is, PageRank.

PageRank is a link analysis algorithm or a ranking system used by Google to determine the importance of a website.

Every website is given a Google PageRank score between 0 and 10. PageRank 9 or 10 means good PR, that is, a website has the highest volume of inbound links(will discuss later)

Concept of PageRank

When a website A links to your web page, Google consider it as Website A casting a vote to your web page. Google takes these all link votes into consideration to decide the relevance and significance of individual web pages and your website as a whole. So, if a very good site links to your site, then your site would receive a piece of site's authority, and if your site links to another site, then that site would also receive a little piece of authority. Google then count up how much authority a site has and give it a PageRank from 0 to 10. This is the basic concept behind PageRank.

That's all for today, will discuss more on it very soon. Like this post, any query or correction? Shoot your comments below.
BBye

Now that you have an idea of what keywords are, let's learn more about it, shall we?

Okay, so keywords can be either broad or specific, but before choosing, you'll want to study our list of pros and cons of each.

Broad keywords
A broad keyword tends to be very short and is very specific, e.g. "shoes", "shirts"). These keywords are difficult to rank number 1, because so many other websites might have an article or two that mention shoes or shirts. But, if you can rank well for a broad keyword, you will be receiving a great deal of traffic.
So, it is hard to rank for, but worth it in the long run.

Specific keywords
A specific keyword contains many words that make the search very targeted. The users doing these types of searches know exactly what they want e.g. "blue and white checked shirt". Obviously, these keywords are much less competitive and are easier to rank for on search engines, because not many websites would be using that phrase. The drawback is that they receive less volume of searches per month.

In short, if you search for "shoes" (broad keyword), Google will give you the result of websites containing "shoes" word, so obviously there would be lots of search results, and if you search for "blue and white checked shirt", it will show you the result that contains only that phrase. The users will not always search for that particular phrase, so the scope to rank is little less.

Branded keywords
These are the keywords or words that are specific to only your company or website. They are one of the most easiest ways to get traffic. Like "HCL" "Facebook" "TCS", they are big names i know, but i am just putting an example that when you search for these keywords, all you could see is just their websites, you don't need to compete for branded keywords.

Try to target no more than 2 or 3 keyword phrases per page, that is, try to use two or three keywords in the content of that page. Never stuff lots of different keywords on one page, that comes under "Keyword stuffing", Google does not like those websites.

I hope this post will help you. How do you like it? Leave your comments below and i will be back with another post very soon.
noopshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09952396192957171032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4017215189744839484.post-8224190921806970722015-03-26T04:44:00.001-07:002015-03-31T05:03:30.622-07:00What is Keyword?

So that now you have an idea of what SEO is, let's begin..

So, you are thinking of developing your own website? Obviously you want that users search some keywords(search terms) on search engines and find out your website. Suppose you have a shoes website, then you will want that users that search for "black shoes" or "white sports shoes" will redirect to your website, right? Theses are called keywords that you want to rank on search engine. Now how will users will be redirected to your website? Because you will be using these keywords in your website.

Keyword Research is a task for finding some "keywords" that users search on search engine, so you gent an idea of what they are looking for.

So the first step would start searching the keywords that you want to rank for, then see what keywords users are using on search engines, for that you can use "Keyword Planner Tool".
Let's see how you can use it:

1) Go to
https://adwords.google.com/KeywordPlanner

2) Sign up or Sign in

3) Go to keyword planner, as you can see from the below image

4) You will see something like this, and then click on the first option, as you can see that i have marked it

5) Enter as many keywords as you want, i have entered three as you can see from the reference image below, the third one is not visible, type as may keywords as you have in your mind, if you have a shoes website then you will want to target your keywords locally not globally, that is, you want that if someone searches "white and blue shoes in Delhi" they can see your website instead of someone from US, so in Location tab i have targeted Delhi and Noida. You can also select from product category for further sorting of your keywords. Click on get Get ideas

6) click on "keywords ideas" and you will see the keywords that you have used to get an idea of what users are looking for, next to it you will see keywords variations, that is, people are not looking for the three keywords that you have just used in planner, instead they looking these keywords to search what they are looking for.

7) Two main terms are important, first "Avg monthly searches", that is how many people are searching that particular keyword, and "competition", that is how difficult is that keyword for you to rank on search engines.

8) From the above point, you should have sensed that to pick a particular keyword, that you can use in you website, the "Avg monthly searches" should be high, and "Competition" should be medium. Yes, medium, not low, if you are wondering why, that's because if the competition of a particular keyword is low, that is no other website is competing for it, that is users are not searches those keywords.
However, if your website is new, you can opt for low competition, and then use medium in future, because many websites are still competing for medium too and it would be a tad difficult for a new website to compete, you can combine your keywords like this

Lots of Medium, some low and few high

9) Now select all the keywords of your interest by clicking on ">>", you can also download it.

So that's about it guys, we will discuss more about it in future. I hope you will like this most and find it useful. Any doubts? comments below!!

So this is my first post and I am very excited about it.

P.S. I am not an SEO guru. Anything or everything that I post here is based on my own experience.

So I was not aware of what SEO is a few years ago. I was looking for a job, that's when I got selected as a SEO Executive as a fresher. I was just doing Off-page (will be discussed later) and I did not know anything about On-page.
So I worked there for 1.7 years and was also learning and exploring about On-page SEO on Google and all.
I started searching for a job where I could do both off-page and on-page SEO.

No one was willing to give me the job in On-page as I just had the knowledge in On-page, no experience. So I would go for the interviews and would make a list of all the questions that were asked by the interviewer and then I would search for it on Google.

And finally I got selected, for On-page obviously. And since then, I am learning something new everyday.

What is SEO?

When you type anything in Google, say "SEO Tutorial", what websites you see on the first page of the result and why?

Because they have done their SEOs properly that is why their website are shown on the first page or any other page for some keywords.

So, SEO is a technique that helps search engines to find and rank your website higher than other websites in response to a search query. It is the collection of all the techniques that allow a site to get more traffic(users) from search engine.

It is divided into two parts: On-Page and Off-Page, that we will discuss in the future.
